Maximum Volunteers Reached. No Further Signups at this time.
RiverLink is delighted to announce plans to develop its latest public green space designed to serve cyclists, runners, and pedestrians along the French Broad River. The new Gateway Park will be constructed on Riverside Drive at the Pearson Bridge, which was donated to RiverLink in 2011 in partnership with the nearby OM Sanctuary. With meandering pathways and native plantings, arched gateways at both entrances and a carousel-inspired pavilion, the new park will resurrect a smaller version of the historic Riverside Park found at this location in the early 20th Century. We will work to maintain native species diversity and prepare the land for public access.
If you are interested in making an impact in the community and on the French Broad River, please join us for our recurring Gateway Park volunteer events on the third Friday of every month, from 10am-12pm, through July.
Please indicate below what date(s) you would like to volunteer out of the dates listed below:
We will meet at the public parking lot/river access behind French Broad Outfitters -
506 Pearson Bridge Rd, Asheville, NC 28806 at 10am.
RiverLink will provide all necessary tools and equipment. Closed-toed shoes are required and pants are recommended. We also recommend everyone bring a water bottle and gardening gloves if you have them, but we will also provide gloves if needed.
Please contact volunteer@riverlink.org if you have any questions.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please note that all volunteer events are weather dependent. Our staff will send out an email a day in advance if we need to cancel the event due to weather.
