Float for a cause and join us on the River for French Broad in Wonderland!
While we continue to take measures to ensure social distancing, Riverlink is excited to adapt the Anything That Floats Parade to get our community on the river in a positive and safe way! This year we are hosting a semi-virtual river float with a flexible time frame that ensures you can safely experience the river while uniting for a common cause- clean water and the protection of our watershed!July 10-31, 2020
EVENT DETAILS
Theme
The theme for this years event is French Broad in Wonderland! Dress up as your favorite character, deck out your boat or tube, and don't be afraid to get as wild and wacky with it as you want! Just like in years past, we will be holding a contest with three categories: Most Creative, Most Environmentally Friendly and Best Costume. In order to enter the contest simply take a photo and share it on social media with the hashtag #AnythingThatFloats2020, or email it to info@riverlink.org. Winners will be announced August 5 live on Facebook.
To Participate
- Register for Anything that Floats before July 30
- Get on the French Broad River or one of its creeks or streams at your convenience any time, any stretch between July 10-31 (you can also hike or have a picnic near the river, if that's more your style)
- Join in the French Broad in Wonderland theme and share on social media with #AnythingThatFloats2020 or email to info@riverlink.org to compete for prizes
Registration Includes:
- Entry to Anything that Floats: French Broad in Wonderland
- Swag bag (5 L dry bag for all your river adventures) filled with goodies from RiverLink, 98.1 and New Belgium (pick up times are Wednesdays 2-6 PM, Fridays 11 AM-2 PM, Starts July 15)
- Promo code from Zen Tubing for free cooler carrier at either location for any reservation booked at Zen Tubing between now and July 31, 2020
- Raffle ticket for a chance to win some amazing prizes (more information below)
- Optional: add on a one of a kind (unisex) t-shirt (S-XXL) or women's tank top (XS-XL) for only $15!
Location
While people are welcome to choose their own float route (not limited to the Asheville sections of the French Broad!) we wanted to share a few options that we especially like.
Bent Creek to Hominy Creek- This is a nice easy section of water that will take you near the Biltmore Estate and end at Hominy Creek in West Asheville.
Hominy Creek/Carrier Park to New Belgium Brewery- The traditional parade route from years past, this section takes you through the River Arts District and ends at New Belgium Brewery.
Section 10 near Hot Springs- One of the more beautiful and remote sections of the river, this is a great trip to do when you want to spend a leisurely afternoon on the river.
